Transhumance is defined as a form of migrating pastoralism which adapts to changing productivity in open lands.
Nearly half of the emerged lands in the Earth are arid zones with seasonally abundance of grazing after long periods of drought. About 250 million nomad and migrating people live in these areas and they are perfectly used to harnessing the available natural resources without degrading them. Moreover, they preserve its thousand-year-old cultures, autochthonous livestock breeds, unique ecosystems and an inestimable biological diversity value. Transhumance explores the private relation between inhabitants and environment.
A collection made up of organic and loose forms from materials and textures. Wool is the key element of the collection. From wicked wool to felted wool and wool thread or even pure wool. The working of textures using traditional techniques of the art of weaving symbolizes a bond to tradition. Macramé is worked using woollen fabric, basket making using ribbons, the technique of the Spanish knot and the low warp loom using different materials. Hand-knitting recalls rural life and the use of ribbons symbolizes bonds and dependence. Paddings are used to add volume and appearance. Overlapping layers are present through out the collection. Colours are defined in black, grey and green tonalities. Black depicts archaic times, classical times and tradition.
