Arte Povera was created 1967 by the art critic and curator Germano Celant and the term is used to allude a movement of artists who use materials considered poor, such as elements from daily life and waste without apparent value. They seek to provoke a reflection on the object and its form through its manipulation and not only the observation.

First came the man and then the system, this is how formerly was. Today the society produces and the man consumes. Each of us can criticize, demystify and propose alternatives, but must remain in the system, it is not allowed to be free.

This collection is a reflection on the current consumption model and a search for the essence of matter.

The work of materials such as the cord and the elastic band is prominent in the collection. Handcrafted pieces are created with large diameter cord. The elastic band is weaved expressly unfinished. The basket weave technique is also used with elastic band. The handloom is a support for experimentation where different subjects are mixed.

Small metal pieces found are used to create new pieces in order to recuperate their value.

Cotton, linen and silk weaves are omnipresent in the collection. Translucent and die-cuts weaves imply a double interpretation, totally subjective.

Wide and oversize shapes are worked recovering old patterns and adapting them to the present. Old trousers and skirts patterns are recovered, as well as accessories.

Pleats are created from recovered weaves and satin ribbons to create new proposals.

The screen-printing technique is used for printing traditional and quotidian items, such as wicker baskets or reed chairs. It is also used to stamp messages.

Different color-scheme from neutral tones is used to give uniformity to the collection and to enhance the material. White, raw, black and beige look to go unnoticed.
